Even as the Independence Day frenzy and opening-day mania slowed down, Rajinikanth’s Coolie continued its golden run at the box office. On its third day of release, the action-packed entertainer showed only a slight dip but still delivered impressive numbers, both in India and overseas. With this, Coolie has stormed past the ₹300 crore mark worldwide, setting a new record in Tamil cinema.

Coolie Worldwide Box Office Report

On Saturday, day 3 of release, Coolie earned ₹38.50 crore net in India, taking its domestic total to ₹158.25 crore net (₹187 crore gross). Overseas markets also remained strong, with the film crossing $15 million by the third day.

This brings Coolie’s worldwide gross collection to a staggering ₹320 crore, making it the fastest Tamil film ever to cross ₹300 crore worldwide—beating Vijay’s Leo, which took four days to hit the milestone in 2023.

Not just that, Coolie has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of recent Bollywood hits like Sitaare Zameen Par (₹263 crore) and Housefull 5 (₹288 crore)—and it hasn’t even wrapped up its first weekend yet.

The Road Ahead for Coolie

Despite mixed reviews and divided word of mouth, Rajinikanth’s star power is undeniable. Industry experts believe the film is well on track to target a ₹600-crore lifetime run, with even the possibility of challenging 2.0’s all-time Tamil record.

Only three Tamil films have ever crossed ₹600 crore worldwide—2.0, Jailer, and Leo—and remarkably, Rajinikanth has led two of them. If Coolie sustains its current momentum, it could rewrite box office history yet again.

Star Cast and Production Buzz

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars Rajinikanth in the titular role, alongside Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, with Aamir Khan making a special appearance.

Coolie Movie did not deserve A certificate, says producer Elred Kumar

Producer Elred Kumar also took to social media to hail Rajinikanth and Lokesh’s work, while raising questions over the film receiving an ‘A’ certificate.

“Superstar is always a Superstar! But why did Coolie get an A certificate when films with more violence received U/A? Something doesn’t add up. The Tamil film fraternity needs to step up,” Kumar wrote on X.
