🌑 Why Is Chandra Grahan 2025 Called a Blood Moon?
The reddish tint of the Moon happens because of Rayleigh scattering. As sunlight passes through Earth’s atmosphere, shorter blue wavelengths scatter away, while longer red wavelengths bend and reach the Moon, painting it a coppery-red glow.
This eclipse will be especially dark and dramatic since the Moon passes deep into Earth's umbra—and just 2.7 days before perigee (closest approach to Earth), making it look slightly larger and brighter than usual.
