PM Modi thanked President Putin for birthday wishes and pledged to boost ties, reaffirming India's support for peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked Russian President Vladimir Vladimir Putin for his phone call and greetings on his 75th birthday, and pledged to strengthen “special and privileged strategic partnership.”

In a post on X, PM Modi described Putin as a “friend" and reaffirmed New Delhi’s full contribution towards a “peaceful resolution" of the Ukraine conflict.

“Thank you, my friend, President Putin, for your phone call and warm wishes on my 75th birthday. We are committed to further strengthening our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. India is ready to make all possible contributions towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict," he said.

Vladimir Putin Praises PM Modi’s Leadership

On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended warm greetings and lauded his exceptional leadership. In his message, Putin highlighted how PM Modi’s tenure has steered India toward remarkable achievements in the social, economic, scientific, and technological sectors.

“Your work as head of government has earned you great respect from your compatriots and enormous prestige on the international stage. Under your guidance, India has achieved impressive results,” Putin said in his congratulatory note.

Strengthening India-Russia Relations

The Russian President praised PM Modi’s personal contribution in deepening the India-Russia strategic partnership, calling it an essential pillar of bilateral ties. Putin also expressed confidence that their close and comradely relationship would continue to foster collaboration in regional and global matters.

The two leaders recently met during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Shenzhen, China, where they reaffirmed their commitment to mutual collaboration.
